Workshops

Workshops that get work moving.

Start with a 90-minute session on one piece of stalled work, or hire me to design and run something bigger.

The unjam workshop

One stalled piece of work. Ninety minutes. One change already under way.

Bring a real piece of work that’s important and stuck. We’ll see together why it’s stuck, make the trade-off you’ve been putting off, and leave with a plan that fits the time your people actually have.

Around the session

Before and after

  1. Before

A 30-minute call with the sponsor to choose the right piece of work and who should be in the room.

  2. Within 48 hours

A written summary: the map, the stuck points, the change you chose, and your before and after scores.

  3. Two weeks later

A 20-minute check-in. Did the first step happen, and what’s next on the map?

The three pillars

The scorecards we use in the room

Everyone scores the same piece of work, privately, on three things. The gaps between people’s scores are often the most useful part of the session.

Score 1 to 5

Decisive prioritisation

1
Everything is a priority. We’d each name a different top three.
3
We mostly agree, but new requests still knock us off course.
5
We know our top three, and we’ve agreed what stops to make room.

Score 1 to 5

Realistic planning

1
Dates are set by hope or pressure. We find out late.
3
Plans are sensible, but they assume time people don’t have.
5
Plans fit our real capacity, and we see slippage early.

Score 1 to 5

Absolute ownership

1
It’s not clear who decides. The same few people rescue things.
3
Owners are named, but decisions still drift upwards.
5
Every piece of work has one clear owner who can decide.

Bespoke sessions

Something bigger in mind?

I’ll be honest, I hate boring meetings. The ones where everyone nods, nothing gets decided, and the actions disappear by Thursday. So I design sessions that are the opposite: planning days, away days and big group games where people actually talk, decide things and leave with a plan they still remember the following Monday.

Recent sessions for technology scale-ups, national charities, housing associations and service brands.

Talk to me about yours

  1. Leadership teams

All the good bits of an away day (the honest conversations, the big decisions) without the trust falls. The kind people actually look forward to, and that’s still paying off three months later.

  2. Strategy and planning days

Big thinking, followed by actual decisions. Over one day or several, I help your exec team turn the vision into a short list of priorities and a plan people can start on Monday.

  3. Ways of working launches

Launching new ways of working with the people who’ll use them, so the change lands in the day job, not just on a slide.

  4. Big group games

Forget the awkward icebreaker. I run big, properly fun games, like Traitors-style mysteries and squad challenges, that get people who never usually talk working together, fast.

How I work

  1. Talk

A short call about what you need.

  2. Design

I design the session around your goals and your people.

  3. Run

I run it, in person or online.

  4. Follow up

You get a written summary and clear next steps.
